Preliminary Statement on Lofa Senatorial By-Election

On June 28, 2022, the Liberia Elections Observation Network (LEON) deployed 85 short-term observers (STO) to observe the polls in the Lofa County by-elections.  The STOs were supported by 5 district-level coordinators. Fully accredited by the National Elections Commission (NEC), the deployment represents a sample of all polling places in the county. Specific to the assignment of the STOs were to observe all processes in the by-elections including the opening of polls, voting, closing, and counting processes.  Each observer sent filled-in checklists through one of our data points: the Carter Center’s Election Monitoring data analysis center, ELMO, or through the local mobile network SMS. Data clerks at LEON aggregated their submissions and analyzed it for this preliminary report. This report aggregates submissions from 95% of our deployments.
