Tracking the Implementation of Recommendations from International, Regional and Domestic Election Observers Reports

Following the 2017 elections, the 8th of December 2020 Special Senatorial Election (SSE) and Referendum and the November 2021 Legislative elections, several recommendations were made by international and local observers requiring reforms to the New Elections Law of 1986 (NEL) or National Election Commission (NEC) regulations. In a few cases, they require changes to the 1986 Constitution of Liberia. Often when these recommendations are made, they are rarely followed up on and the status of recommendation(s) implementation is hardly tracked. There is no solid mechanism for assessing the status of implementation of these recommendations, including during election follow up missions. Not onlyw that, but there are also no timeframes by which these recommendations should be implemented.
