Press Statement BVR Week Two Release

LEON Releases Week Two BVR Observation Report: Frowns on the actions of a NEC Staff and Thanks NEC for Reassuring the Public of the Credibility of the Registration Process.

The Liberia Elections Observation Network (LEON) on Monday April 3, 2023, released its 2nd observational report on week two of the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) process. The report covers observations in 202 centers in urban, peri-urban, rural, and remote Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, Grand Bassa, Margibi, and Montserrado Counties.

Highlight findings from report shows that in 100% of centers covered, the required number of NEC staff were present with 74% (149 centers) having female staff present. The report reveals that centers opened at 8:00am in 64% of centers observed while changes to the location of registration centers were reported in 45 centers constituting 22.3% of the total observation. Inadequate notice to the public about changes in location of registration centers was noted.
